Pet Health Insurance can prevent you from being stuck with those big veterinarian bills, which is why we have partnered with the Hartville Pet Insurance Group through our relationship with Safeco Insurance. Hartville is one of the largest and oldest providers in the U.S. to offer this coverage.
You have options available to cover everything from surgeries and medications to yearly physicals and vaccinations.
As long as your cat or dog is at least eight weeks old, you should be eligible for a pet health insurance plan. You don’t have to be a Safeco customer to purchase this coverage but Safeco customers in most states qualify for a discounted rate!
Hartville Complete CoverageSM Info:
Each type of coverage includes exam fees, diagnostics, and treatment. We even cover the most advanced treatments, like chemotherapy and surgery, and some you may not expect, such as stem-cell therapy and acupuncture, so you can follow your vet’s recommendations with less worry about cost.
Accident coverage will take care of costs for injuries and emergencies related to accidents, like torn ligaments, bite wounds, cuts, broken bones, lodged foreign objects, and toxic ingestions.
With illness coverage, you’ll be reimbursed for the costs of major and minor illnesses, such as cancer, arthritis, allergies, hypothyroidism, digestive problems, and UTIs.
Hereditary & Congenital Conditions
This coverage is for the costs of inherited conditions and birth defects that don’t show symptoms until later in your pet’s life, like heart disease, IVDD, eye disorders, and hip dysplasia.
Behavioral issues coverage can help with the costs of vet visits for concerning behaviors that may be related to anxiety or compulsive behavior, like excessive licking, fur pulling, and destruction of the home.
With Complete CoverageSM, you can choose the care you want when your pet is hurt or sick and take comfort in knowing they have coverage.
All coverage will start on the 15th day after the policy effective date.
Coverage for preventive care, like annual wellness exams, vaccines, and screenings, is not included in this plan. You can add preventive care coverage for a little more per month after you select your base plan.
What’s Not Covered
Like all pet insurance providers, there are exclusions.
No pet insurance provider that we are aware of covers pre-existing conditions. These are conditions that occur before coverage begins or during a waiting period. However, we will no longer consider a condition to be pre-existing if it has been cured and free of symptoms and treatment for 180 days, with the exception of knee and ligament conditions. If a knee or ligament condition occurs before the coverage effective date or during a waiting period, any future ones won’t be covered.
Our plans do not cover elective procedures, such as tail docking, ear cropping, and claw removal.
Our plans do not cover costs associated with breeding or pregnancy.
*For a full list of excluded items reach out to us and we can get you a detailed list.
How it Works…
Pet health insurance coverage works simply: Take your pet for a covered treatment, pay the vet bill, then submit a claim for reimbursement. That’s it!
You select a deductible of $100, $250, or $500. The deductible is annual, so after the deductible amount is met you won’t have to satisfy it again until the next 12-month plan period. After the annual deductible is met, the reimbursement amount will be 70%, 80% or 90% of invoice, based on the reimbursement percentage selected when the policy was purchased.
You will also select an annual limit of coverage that you want: $2,500, $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000.
Reimbursements can be deposited directly into your bank account or sent via check. Typically, it takes 14-16 business days to process a claim.
This insurance is applicable for treatments at any veterinary clinic in the U.S. or Canada, including treatment from specialists and emergency facilities. Policies have a 12-month term.
